If the board registers insufficient pulses from the flow meter or the float switch fails to actuate, it halts the cycle, activates the drain pump to remove any standing water, and displays the IE code. This is a critical safety mechanism designed to prevent the wash motor from cavitating and the heating element from overheating due to running dry.
